Most of you already heard about serums; they work wonders in reducing wrinkles and fine lines. But there’s so much more to a serum than just that. People with dry skin, pigmentation spots or scars hugely benefit from using a serum as an addition to their daily skin care.
Do you know how a serum works and how to use it best? We are happy to tell you everything you need to know about serums!
So what exactly is a serum?
A serum is a skincare product with a high concentration of active substances. You apply a serum after cleansing so the powerful ingredients can penetrate even deeper into the skin. They are often used as an addition to a daily skincare routine for specific skin problems such as pigmentation spots, skin aging, dry spots, etc. ...
Due to the high concentration of active substances, they’re very economical in use. A serum is usually packaged in a small dropper bottle to be able to limit the dosage correctly. This way a small bottle will last you a long time!
When to use a serum?
Serums are immensely helpful for treating both temporary skin imperfections and long-term blemishes. They tackle all kinds of skin conditions at the root of the problem since their high concentration of active ingredients acts on the deeper layers of the skin. For example, our repairing serum Kissed by a Rose, contains molecules that help reduce pigmentation spots or scars from deep inside the skin.
A serum also helps to protect the skin against harmful external influences and supports the natural regeneration of your skin. For example, with dry skin, a serum can prove to be a beneficial addition to your daily skincare routine in case your day and night cream doesn’t provide the necessary hydration.
Specific skin areas in need of special care, such as your eye area, an acne-prone chin or rosacea-prone cheeks, can be treated topically with the concentrated formulas of specialized ingredients of a serum.
On top, using a serum is the ideal skincare product to combat skin aging. Did you know that the first signs of skin aging become visible from the age of 25? Our Kissed by a Rose serum helps to reduce existing wrinkles and lines, improves skin elasticity and stimulates collagen production.
It’s a real youth elixir!

Can I use a serum?
To know if you can use a serum, simply have a look at your skin. If your skin looks dull, has dry spots, blemishes or scars despite using a daily skincare routine, your skin could use a more intensive care to make it glow. Definitely try a serum in this case!
I have normal skin, can I also use a serum?
Even if you don't have any specific skin problems, your skin can still benefit from a serum. In this case, a serum will provide a preventive, deeply nourishing effect to prevent skin problems and skin aging. And we prefer to prevent than to cure, right?
How to use a serum?
You apply a serum after cleansing and before applying your day and night cream. This allows your serum to penetrate deep into your skin. It will prepare the epidermis for your other skincare products and will strengthen their effects. Since a serum is very concentrated, you’ll only need one or two drops. This way your bottle will go a long way!
Apply the serum with your fingertips to the skin of your face and neck and dab lightly. Let it penetrate your skin for a few moments, before applying your day or night cream.
You can apply a serum in the morning and/or evening, depending on your skin’s needs.
A serum is usually used for the face and neckline, but is also highly suitable for skin problems on the entire body.
Tip: Make sure you do a thorough - double - cleansing before applying your serum. Read more about the ideal double cleansing here.
Apply a small amount of serum with your fingertips to the skin of your face, eye area and décolleté, morning and/or evening. Dab in lightly. Let the serum penetrate gently before applying your day and night cream.
Use the serum on your eye area to reduce fine lines and to nourish the delicate skin underneath your eyes.
- Mix a drop of our serum with your day and night cream for that extra boost.
- Use the serum on scars on your entire body to nourish the scar’s skin and make it fade.
- Your skin absorbs the active substances of a serum more thoroughly after a nice skin massage. You should try it! ;)
