Respect for our planet

Protecting our precious planet is a paramount in the development and production of our products.

Our ecological footprint is reduced to a minimum throughout the entire supply chain,

using sustainably sourced natural ingredients and packaging made from more sustainable materials.

Natural ingredients

We are committed to using natural and certified organic ingredients. Our Himalayan mountain plants are grown, harvested and collected using organic and sustainable production methods. For every mountain plant we use, we work out sustainable methods together with our Nepalese partners, taking into account all possible environmental, social and ethical factors.

Packaging

We are always looking for the most sustainable and ecological ways to package our products. As a result, most of our packaging is made from glass, plant based or post consumer recycled packaging.

For example, did you know:
- Our Daisy Delight and Under my Skin day and night creams come in Ocean Waste Plastic packagings, that are made of 50% post consumer recycled plastic? Find out here.
- Your Nuts about You volume shampoo and hand & body wash can be refilled? Find out more about our refill stations here!

The thing is, we cannot do this alone. We need you to help us on this one. Because by re-using and recycling the CÎME packaging, you help us care for our planet. So thanks for recycling them.

Vegan & cruelty-free

All of our products are guaranteed to be 100% cruelty-free. This means our ingredients have not been tested on animals (as imposed by EU legislation). In addition, our products are also entirely vegan, except for our Himalaya 29°N-81°E and Le Baume by CÎME, that contain beeswax. We do guarantee that the beeswax used for these products is completely organic & cruelty-free.

No to microbeads

Microbeads are often used in in skincare products like body scrubs. They flow straight from the bathroom drain into the sewer system, contributing to the ‘Plastic Soup’ swirling around in our oceans.

Instead of these small plastic particles, we chose to use pink Himalayan salt in our body scrub and bath salt, Magnificent Mandarin. These fine salt crystals exfoliate the skin, leaving it smooth as silk. The salt is entirely of natural origin and free of toxins. No plastic can beat that!

WeForest

Our aim is to evolve to a circular model, minimising our CO2 emission and the creation of waste. However, until we have reached that point, we calculate each year our total CO2 emission.

To compensate for this emission, we help plant trees in the foothills of the Himalayas, together with WeForest. We chose to support the Khasi hills project.

This way, we can support the Khasi communities to restore their forest and to mitigate climate change in the foothills of the Himalayas.

Transportation

Our active ingredients are mainly harvested and collected in food deficit areas in the Himalayas. Meaning that the local population depends on food import from the Nepalese lowlands.

We use the little airplanes, flying back empty after each food delivery, to transport our ingredients from the mountains to the lowlands.

From thereon, they are transported on the top of public buses to Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, where they are all collected to be shipped together to our laboratory.
