Tip Tuesday: The problem with your lip balm

Tip Tuesday: The problem with your lip balm

26 September 17

You may also have read it: according to Test Aankoop (the Belgian consumers organization), a lot of popular lip balms on the market contain a too high concentration of mineral oils. These mineral oils produce substances that - when swallowed - can be harmful to your health. These substances are MOSH (Mineral Oil Saturated Hydrocarbons) and MOAH (Mineral Oil Aromatic Hydrocarbons).  And there are strong suspicions that MOAH may be carcinogenic and that MOSH accumulates in the organs and may form tumors in lymph nodes, liver and spleen. Chances are your favorite lip balm is on this lack list too.

So time to switch to a natural lip balm without mineral oils! Or too make your own natural lip scrub.

Check out our super easy recipe below. Guaranteed 100% mineral oil free!

What do you need?

  • A teaspoon of sugar
  • A teaspoon of oil, like coconut, avocado oil or l’Huile by CÎME (for a less greasy feeling)
  • A tiny jar to store the scrub

It's actually very simple. Mix a spoon oil with a spoon of sugar and put into a little jar. Spread a little on your lips and massage well. Then rinse off and ready it is! This way you get instant kissable lips.

TIP: Make an edible lipscrub by replacing the oil with a spoon of honey.
